2011-2012 Annual Campaign

Support CoSA's Annual Campaign

December 1, 2011

Six years ago my daughter, Samantha, graduated from Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA). At that time, there were just 117 students in the relatively unknown program. The theatre had not yet been built, and the Digital Media and Filmmaking department had just been established. A lot has changed since then. The program has nearly doubled in size, the state-of-the-art performing arts facilities and broadcasting studio rival those on college campuses, and Digital Media and Filmmaking has quickly grown to be the second-largest CoSA department.

Yet, so much about the program remains unchanged. It continues to be the highlight of the day for budding young artists. It also keeps students, who might otherwise lose interest, engaged in school. I know personally that the program made all the difference for my daughter. I continue to support CoSA. I serve on the board for the CoSA Foundation and drive over the bridge from Bonita several times each month to volunteer.

CoSA continues to earn local, state, and national recognition among arts programs. Last January, CoSA’s production of The Laramie Project sold out the theatre and made national news. Graduates go on to tremendous careers both in and out of the arts. Thomas Fiss is currently a successful recording artist collaborating with Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic; Dillon Evans, a recent graduate, was one of only two national award winners from the Stage Managers’ Association; Caitlin Grady graduated from Boston Conservatory and is now an actress for Lamb’s Players; Robert Negron is Artistic Director of an Actors’ Collective in Indianapolis, Ind.; Michael Valez is on the BFA dance faculty at Dominican University, and my own daughter is now working at The Old Globe Theatre.

In the midst of these wonderful developments, we continue to face funding challenges. With the help of the CoSA Foundation, I am committed to ensuring CoSA continues as the leading arts conservatory in San Diego County. I hope you will join me and make a gift to our Annual Campaign.

Your gift is an important step in helping us meet CoSA’s financial goals. For your convenience, you can donate online. Your tax-deductible donation will help CoSA students follow their dreams.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Sincerely,
