Coronado School of the Arts for all San Diego - Awards and Recognition

The Coronado School of the Arts opened its doors in the fall of 1996. Since that time, CoSA and Coronado High School have received numerous awards and recognition, including:

  • Ongoing, Specialized Secondary Program (SSP) Demonstration Site, Member, Network of Performing Arts Schools
  • 2010, National Endowment for the Arts Grant Recipient for 2011 “Sacred Sky, Sacred Earth” project
  • 2010, National Youth Theatre Award for Best Ensemble for Hello, Dolly! (also nominated for Best Production and Best Direction, Dr. Barbara Wolf)
  • 2009, CoSA wins the only Golden Bell Award for Performing and Visual Arts in California, California School Boards Association (CSBA)
  • 2009, San Diego Educational Theatre Association’s Bravissimo Award for “Distinguished Theatre Program,” CoSA’s Musical Theatre Program
  • 2009, San Diego Educational Theatre Association’s Bravissimo Award for “Theatre Rookie of the Year Award,” Kim Strassburger
  • 2008, Coronado High School wins US News Best High Schools Silver Award.
  • 2008, Coronado High receives National Blue Ribbon School
  • 2008, Coronado High ranks highest public high school in San Diego County (based on API scores)
  • 2007, CHS Career Technical Education Award
  • 2007, CHS is a California Distinguished School
