A Career Technical Education Demonstration Day
Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 8:30 am – 3:15 pm
Sponsored by a California Department of Education Tech Prep Demonstration Site Grant
The Demonstration Day is appropriate for educators and others who are interested in visual, digital, and performing arts and high school career programs. The day will include information about the establishment and development of Coronado School of the Arts, as well as:
- its model CTE curriculum and “Programs of Study” in its 3 Industry Sector Pathways (Production and Managerial, Media and Design Arts, and Performing Arts);
- end of pathway assessment development project in the Production and Managerial Pathway facilitated by the San Diego County Office of Education;
- articulated curriculum (Tech Prep) project with Southwestern College;
- discussions about CTE credentialing in the Arts Media and Entertainment Industry Sector;
- industry partnerships;
- foundation funding; and
- tours of the school.
Registration, Lunch, and Refreshments: Please e-mail or call for reservations by January 28. Please indicate how many will be attending.
A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for $20.00. Make a check payable to CHS ASB.
Directions and Parking: Coronado School of the Arts is located on the campus of Coronado High School on the island of Coronado in San Diego. The city of Coronado is 20 minutes from the San Diego airport. Driving: Traveling south on I-5 Freeway, take the Coronado Bay Bridge exit. Drive over the bridge. There are no tolls. Proceed to the first light (Orange Avenue) and turn left. Proceed to Sixth Street and turn right. The school is in the next block. The Performing Arts Center is on D Avenue between Sixth and Seventh Streets. Park on the street. (You may have to park a couple of streets away from the school.) There is no parking lot available.
