The Coronado School of the Arts Foundation
Established in 1997, the Coronado School of the Arts Foundation, is a charitable organization under Internal Revenue Section 501 ( c ) (3) and the California Revenue and Taxation Code section 23701d.
The MISSION of the Coronado School of the Arts Foundation is to perpetuate a regional public school of the arts at Coronado High School that offers the opportunity for the best possible arts education to all qualified students in San Diego County. The foundation is committed to inspiring broad community support and to engaging other foundations, educational and arts institutions, and community organizations in partnerships to fulfill this mission.
The foundation provides funding for The Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA), established in 1996, on the campus of Coronado High School. The CoSA Foundation supports the Mission of the Coronado School of the Arts:
The Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA) is a public arts conservatory program for students in grades 9-12 that embraces and encourages artistic creativity and academic excellence. This pre-professional arts program reaches out to all talented high school students in San Diego County, offering a nurturing environment focused on individual growth, opportunity, and diversity.
How is CoSA Funded?
CoSA is funded jointly by the Coronado School of the Arts Foundation; public school funding, including the Coronado Unified School District and the Regional Occupation Program; Southwestern Community College funded adjunct faculty; and a variety of grants.
CoSA is dependent on the CoSA Foundation, which is tasked with raising over $150,000 a year to make up the funding shortfall. Over the past nine years, the CoSA Foundation has raised nearly a million dollars to guarantee the program’s continued existence, growth, and quality.
