cosa: Dances on the Object That Define Us
CoSA isn’t only shorthand for the Coronado School of the Arts at Coronado High School, it is also the title of an original digital dance concert produced by the program’s Conservatory of Classical and Contemporary Dance. But cosa, the concert, isn’t referring to its namesake. Taking their cue from the Spanish word “cosa,” which translates to “thing” in English, faculty and student choreographers have created a program comprised of dance films based on the objects in our lives that define us. From pillow to mirror to graduation cap to moon, this is the stuff that in small or large ways has become part of our identities.
Director Gina Bolles Sorensen has woven dances by five faculty choreographers and seven student choreographers into a full-length digital dance concert streaming on-demand May 14-16.
